Invitation: theme session on aerospace and industry 4.0 @ 9th EASN

20Event April, 19

Dear colleague, we are delighted to invite you to join us in a special theme session on Industry 4.0 and Aerospace. We welcome works that are exploring the advantages of I4.0 technologies to lower production costs, aim at zero defect, shorten the design process and those integrating the full aircraft life cycle into a closed loop. In particular, research that are at the intersection of different domains (IoT, collaborative robotics, digital thread and artificial intelligence) and/or leverage the different open platforms being developed in Europe for I4.0 (eg, Fitman, Fiware).
This theme session has the dual purpose of highlighting the best research on this theme and promote a discussion on leveraging the existing digital platforms and projects being developed under the EU research programs.
As a specialist in the field, we encourage you to submit an abstract to this special session so we can have the opportunity to learn more about your work and benefit from your insights into a broad discussion on this field.
The 9th EASN will happen in iconic city of Athens from the 6th to the 9th September. Publishing in conference proceedings and reference journals arranged by the EASN organization.

Submit your abstract until 31st May

00Event September, 18

FASTEN actively participated through a dedicated booth in the PACEdays 2018 Conference & User Group Meeting organized by PACE/TXT in Berlin on September 11th-12th, 2018.

More than 100 representatives joined the conference. The list includes major companies like Airbus, American Airlines, Boeing, Embraer, Etihad Airways, GE, Georgia Institute of Technology, IATA, IBM, Leonardo, Lufthansa, Microsoft, Rolls-Royce and Safran. This year’s conference is entitled “On the digital transformation highway”, and is an opportunity for the aviation industry to look at ways of fast-tracking innovation.

Master Thesis

00Event August, 18

Our colleague Narciso Sobral presented successfully his Master Thesis at the University of Porto with the title “Hybrid Optimization/Simulation approach for flexible supply chain management”. This work was done in the context of the FASTEN ThyssenKrupp use case. An optimization/simulation model was built to study different configurations of supply chains involving the exploitation of additive manufacturing technology (3D printers).
